I received the carafe in about a week, which was just fine. I was very happy to see that I could get a replacement for my original. This carafe is the same as the one that came with the original coffee maker. It keeps the coffee hot all day and you don't have to worry about the coffee burning. When I ordered it, the description made it seem that it may not come with the cap, but it did.
Love this Thermal Carafe. If it is at least 50% full, it will keep the coffee hot for 8+ hours.
I am returning the item to Small Appliance in Oceanside NY, but have to pay shipping to return it. I tested the carafe with hot water and liked how it kept it hot, but the cap doesn't sit well on the carafe and leaks when inverted. If I had realized the item wasn't being sold directly by Amazon I may not have purchased it; knowing what I do now I would not purchase from an Amazon third party. I purchased this item new. It arrived and upon inspection the carafe was wet as if it had just been rinsed out and shipped. In the end I am left with nothing but paying for shipping both ways for a defective product.
The six women in our office use it daily. Pouring from the carafe is more of a dribble (not messy, just slow) than a flow but I guess a small opening helps keep the coffee warm. This carafe does a very good job keeping coffee hot. Don't twist the small center knob that you can see sticking up from the lid - a plastic marble will fall into your coffee but you probably won't see it until you finish the cup - a bit disconcerting.
I would point out that the original was FANTASTIC. After a few months, though, it stopped being great and soon it was not keeping the coffee hot for more than an hour or so.
Since they clearly don't care about customer service, I will no longer be purchasing; I'm going back to Braun, where I have always gotten excellent products *and* outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, this carafe was little better than the old one.The real problem, though, is that when I called Cuisinart, they would not replace it; they would only replace it if I ordered from them.
After replacing the lid with no success, I replaced the carafe. Not that it matters -- as the manufacturer (or the name on the product), it is *Cuisinart* who should replace it.So, there would seem to be a quality engineering problem, but more importantly they just don't get customer service.
I purchased this because the original carafe no longer kept the coffee hot. It kept the coffee hot all day.
I did contact [.]., but they said they drop ship these directly from Cuisinart; they don't stock it.
